Last Laugh Comedy Continues

LouFest is cancelled. Comedy continues. The Last Laugh Stage lives!

The Show Goes On: Comedy Event Producers Move Roster of National and Local Comedians from LouFest “Last Laugh” Stage to Southtown Pub

Last month, local entertainment and media company We Are Live! announced a partnership with LouFest, adding a “Last Laugh” comedy-specific stage to the festival. Although LouFest is now canceled, the comedy show goes on. The roster of national and local comedians booked to perform at LouFest are taking their talents to Southtown Pub (3707 S Kingshighway Blvd). The retooled, relocated “Last Laugh” event will run from 2pm-8pm on Saturday, Sept 8. Entry is free.

“We’re extremely disappointed in the news about LouFest,” said Chris Denman of We Are Live! “The comedy scene in St Louis has been growing, and we were excited to showcase it on a festival level. But, we’re staying positive! There was a really great reaction to the comedy tent being announced, so we’re taking that as a moral victory. While today’s news was no doubt a major hit to the metro area, I believe St Louis will find other ways to support musicians, entertainers and local businesses this weekend. One option. Come to Southtown Pub on Saturday. We were on the phone all morning with comics, musicians, breweries and local businesses. We invite everyone to come have some laughs at our recalibrated comedy stage.”

Saturday’s “Last Laugh” event at Southtown Pub will feature local comics Stephon Hightower, Jon Venegoni, Angela Smith, Chris Cyr, Duke Taylor, Nathan Orton, Emily Hickner, Bobby Jaycox, Kenny Kinds and national headliners Matt Rife (“Wild ‘N Out”) and Mia Jackson (“Last Comic Standing,” “Inside Amy Schumer”).

We Are Live! is also collaborating with a variety of local brands previously scheduled to participate in LouFest, including Second Shift Brewing and Urban Chestnut Brewing. Local bands will also be incorporated into Saturday’s event, and “The King of Hospitality” Mr. Gary (“Them Yo People!” show) will be in attendance. The final “Last Laugh” schedule, including local music additions, will be shared on the We Are Live! Facebook page:

We Are Live! is able to keep the “Last Laugh” party going thanks to sponsors Southtown Pub, By Jack, Tommy Bannister Circa Properties, Gateway Powder Coating, and St Louis Counseling Services. Mental health nonprofit Project Wake Up will also be featured on Saturday.
